- Bug Girl writes about the unintended consequences of introducing an insect as a biocontrol of an invasive plant. The insects did indeed eat the invasive plant, but the local native mice also ate the insects. Soon there were so many mice that they ate all the native plants, too, leaving more space for the invasive plant that they were trying to control in the first place. Ooops.
