The GenderAnalyzer “uses Artificial Intelligence to determine if a homepage is written by a man or woman.” Apparently the creators trained it on 2,000 blogs, but I guess none of them were science blogs. When it decided that I was a man (unconfounded by Eric, since he only has one post on the homepage right now) I decided to test it on the most female-oriented science blogs I could come up within 10 seconds of not-very-hard thinking.
According to the GenderAnalyzer, Female Science Professor – who writes a blog that’s actually titled Female Science Professor!, is a man. Isis the Scientist with all her girly shoes is apparently also a man. Zuska? Still a man! The only science blogs of any author gender that came up as female-written were Urban Science Adventures and the Radula.
Methinks their Artifical Intelligence might need to be a little more…scientific.

I was going to give it a try myself, but when I clicked on the link – “Site Blocked – the category ‘Sex’ is filtered”. Now I’ll never know if I’m a man or a woman.
What the hell is this crap? Dr. Isis most certainlyhas no penis.
I’d rather be confronted with female blogggers than them driving (moving) a car.
It also screws up Tracking a Mathematician, http://mathphdthoughts.blogspot.com/ , written by a female grad student. It might just skew anything science-oriented male.
that is something…and I’m not even a girly-girl. I wonder what it cues in on?
